Railex, LLC loaded and shipped its first Unit train in October of 2006. In the short three years from that time Railex has grown to a total of three locations, created over 500 jobs and currently loads and ships 4 unit trains per week, an amazing feat to say the least. In order to expand our customer base and to better serve the industry with additional products and services we are broadening our Executive base.
We would like to welcome Thomas Shurstad to the team as President of Railex. Tom comes to the company with a strong rail and transportation background. Tom was President of Pacer International, Inc. from 2006 to 2007, President of Pacer Stacktrain from 2002 to 2006, President of The Beltway Railroad 1998 to 2001 and prior to that he served as C.O.O. for Malayan Railroad and President of Terminal Railroad. Tom will currently be based in the Riverhead Corporate office.
The other addition to the Railex team is Michael King. Michael is going to be the Vice President and General Counsel for Railex. Michael comes to us from DHL Holding USA Inc., where he served as Vice President of Legal Services from 2003 to 2009 and Corporate Counsel for Rexall Sundown, Inc from 2001 to 2003. In addition to other Corporate Counsel positions and Assistant State Attorney in Florida, Michael also served our Country as a Marine and achieved the rank of Captain. Michael will be based in the Riverhead Corporate office.
